DEAR HELLA GOOD Family, FRIENDS, AND SUPPORTERS,
First off, I am hella thankful that you're here and reading this.
For the past 5 years, Hella Good Deeds has prioritized the well-being of the Asian community we serve in Kansas City. We held a vigil to grieve together in the aftermath of the 2021 Atlanta spa shootings. We celebrated 4 Lunar New Years. We united with our Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander brothers and sisters to amplify AANHPI Heritage Month. We shared mooncakes with our community while taking in the bright Harvest moon for Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. We advocated for the City of Kansas City and the State of Missouri to officially declare May as AAPI Heritage Month. And we have uplifted Asian-owned small businesses, nonprofits, artists, performers, and their stories every step of the way.
As a nonprofit, the depth of our programs and the reach of our impact is determined by our fundraising opportunities. In order for us to continue the work we do in a responsible and sustainable way, I very humbly ask you to make a financial contribution that feels both manageable and impactful--an amount that quantifies you as a a stakeholder and champion for our mission to elevate the growing presence of Asian Culture in Kansas City by celebrating our heritage, amplifying our narrative, and connecting our community.
On a personal note, I have come to discover that the work we do at Hella Good Deeds is my Ikigai, the intersection of one's passion + mission + vocation + profession. True to the Japanese concept of Ikigai, it is what I love, what the community needs, what I am good at, and what I can earn a living from. Therefore, your contribution deeply moves me, and encourages me to keep honoring my ancestors by advocating for my community. So I say this with the utmost reverence and determination, I will not let you down.
