Béty Lê Shackelford is a community builder, storyteller, and civic leader dedicated to creating a future where Asian communities are deeply rooted, connected, and celebrated throughout Kansas City and the Midwest.

Originally from San Jose, California, Béty grew up in a community where Asian culture, businesses, and traditions were woven into everyday life. After moving to Kansas City, she recognized both the incredible potential of the region's Asian communities and the opportunity to build stronger systems of belonging, visibility, and connection.

Before founding Hella Good Deeds, she volunteered as Director of Community Outreach for Café Cà Phê while serving as Political Director and Campaign Manager for Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas. 

Prior to community-driven work, Béty received her BFA in acting at CalArts and lived in LA and NYC to pursue a career in film/tv and stage for 10+ years. She is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors Equity Association with highlights including Pretty Little Liars, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the National Tours of Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan and Disney's The Little Mermaid.

Today, she brings together her experience in storytelling, community organizing, and civic leadership to transform Asian visibility into Asian legacy. Above all, her greatest purpose is being a mother to her daughter, Mia, whose future inspires the work she does every day.
