We honor our ancestors by celebrating the diverse heritage and rich traditions they carried with them, and preserving their language to pass on to future generations.

We honor our community by cultivating connection within the Asian community, and building upon the services and resources we provide based on community feedback.

TEMPLE I ANCESTORS

Hella Good Cultural Heritage Celebrations

This series aims to celebrate our roots, preserve our traditions, and bring our community together in shared heritage with vibrant festivals and cultural gatherings with highlighting Asian-centric small businesses, food, art, music, and performances.

LUNAR NEW YEAR: A firecracker of a night ringing in the Year of the *insert Eastern zodiac animal here*. We celebrate the new year with an Asian Night Market complete with dragon dances, vendors, food stalls, and performances to celebrate family and bring in hella good fortune for the year to come.

AANHPI HERITAGE MONTH (Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander): A city-wide event that culminates the months-long celebration honoring Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders with food, performances, and local vendors, showing off the diversity within the AANHPI community.

MID-AUTUMN MOON FESTIVAL: A cozy celebration of the harvest moon with mooncakes, lanterns, and cultural storytelling. A time to honor the moon, be with family, and pass down traditions, with a fun community twist—think lantern parades and mooncake competitions,

Hella Good LANGUAGE

This initiative focuses on preserving the unique tones of our ancestors' languages and methods of communication. Our goal is to launch a robust series of Asian language programs for our community by Spring 2026.

TEMPLE II DESCENDANTS

hella Healing program

Our Hella Healing Program series will launch it's first Mental Health Series Fall 2025 to address Generational Trauma in the Asian community. Led by Asian mental healthcare professionals, together we strive to heal the trauma our ancestors endured in order to love ourselves as we are, and uplift the spirit of the next generation.

hella niche Program

Our Hella Niche Program serves as a nonprofit incubator that focuses on uplifting specific groups within the Asian community. We provide nonprofit resources to our volunteer Program Directors, and support their mission to serve specific sectors within the Asian community. Interested in developing a program? Hella Queer Program : With LGBTQIA+ topics being taboo in many BIPOC households, we provide solidarity and tools to navigate one's identity, access to PrEP and other health services, and participation in large celebratory events of love and ally-ship.

Hella Arts Program: We aim to highlight and elevate AANHPI artists, encourage creative exploration within our community through art exposure, and to build a collaborative network of AANHPI creatives across the Midwest, fostering a supportive environment for growth and inspiration.

TEMPLE III COMMUNITY

HELLA Good health fair

Our first annual Hella Good Health Fair, complete with translators and volunteer guides, is slated to serve our community Fall 2025. This fair will offer a wide range of health services to our low-income and medically underserved elders and peers who may have difficulty navigating an English-dominant healthcare system.

HELLA GOOD DOLLARS

Once fully developed, our Hella Good Dollars Micro-Grant Program will be open to our Asian community to apply for funds that support endeavors ranging from small businesses, advocacy, the arts, and everything in between that furthers our mission of elevating Asian culture in Kansas City. HELLA GOOD socials

Hella casual events, our Hella Good Socials Series happen throughout the year for our Asian community and Asian allies to hang. Together we can revel in the joy and commiserate in the struggles of what it means to be a person of Asian descent living in the Midwest.
